Further Back...

So, we've told you all about their children and their descendants - but what of the people themselves? Who are they descended from and what are their stories?

Jane White

Born in Beaulieu in about 1808 she died in 1900. We have her name as Jane, Mary Jane and Maria Jane White.

The Hampshire Chronicle printed a short piece about her long life and 200+ grandchildren. You can find it under the Obituaries section from the main menu and a picture of her in the Photo Album.

There is no info on her parents yet...

 

Amos Black

Also known as Blackman or Blackney, he was one of four children born to William Blackman and Clementina Ayres who had married on 27 May 1799.

He was born in 1801.

His brothers and sisters were Alice (1800), Thomas (1802), John (1816) and they all used aliases.

Amos' date of death unknown in 1875.


William Blackman

was the youngest of eight children. Their parents were Thomas Blackman (Blackney) and Judith Chittle who married on 3 August 1754.

They all used the alisa Blackney as well as the name Blackman. Mary and Thomas we don't know the birth date for but the others were Sarah (1757), Judith (1759), Elizabeth (1765), Anne (1769), Deborah (1772) and William (1779).

 

Clementina Ayres

was the daughter of Reuben and Jenny Eyres. She was christened in Coombe, which was in Hampshire at this time (later to be part of Berkshire) on 23 Jan 1780. Her parents were 'travellers alias gipsies'.


Thomas Blackman

His father was William Blackman who was born about 1710. Who he married and who was the mother to Thomas and his brothers is still unknown.

Thomas' brothers were Joseph, William and John.
