and White Website, where I hope to show you the
stories of the descendants of Amos Black and Mary
Jane White. (They are listed on
the left in the navigation bar.)
Most
important of all, I would like to express my thanks
to the many people who helped with information for
this site and they can all be found under
Acknowledgements...
We
believe that Amos and Mary Jane married in the 1820s
in Inkpen, Berkshire, although the actual marriage
entry has not been found. More on Amos and Jane can
be found under the Further Back section.
They
were, amongst other things, Dealers, Hawkers and
Horsedealers and commonly called Gypsies. Based in
Inkpen in Berkshire, they also travelled in Hampshire
and Wiltshire. You can see some old maps under the
Map of Inkpen section.
